Pupil Leadership

House Captains:

Each year, eight responsible children are selected to be the school House Captains. They have to be excellent role models for the other children in the school, and carry out certain responsibilities.

These duties include:

  • giving new parents tours of the school
  • collecting the weekly house points
  • awarding stickers to the 'stars of the week' in our Friday celebration assembly

Well done to our Year 6 House Captains for 2025-26:

Hawks:    Carter & Gracie

Eagles:    Albert & Penny

Owls:       Harrison & Amy

Kestrels:  Ellie - Mae & Holly

School Council:

There are 12 children from years 1-6 who form our School Council. Each child gave a speech to their peers about why they would be the best candidate for the role of school council representative. After all of their ideas were considered, each class voted for their top two candidates.

All the children showed an interest in sharing and expressing their ideas and opinions with the rest of the school. It is their responsibility to discuss important matters about the school and the Council meets every other week. Following the meetings, the minutes are taken into classes and all children will have their say.

The School Council has been involved in:

  • developing the Teaching and Learning Policy;
  • organising and sharing ideas for the school's 125th anniversary;
  • generating ideas on how to promote reading;
  • organising fundraising activities and ideas e.g. Children in Need, Comic Relief;
  • improving the school equipment e.g. choosing a pirate ship for the playground;
  • reviewing rewards in school e.g. children who have been awarded Star of the Week eat at The Golden Table with a member of staff on a Friday.

Sports Council and Sports Crew:

The Sports Council is made up of 12, Year 6 children. All the children in Year 6 were given the opportunity to put themselves forward for this role. The children had to present their reasons why they should be chosen and Mrs Sansum then made the final decision.

All 12 children feel strongly about the importance of keeping fit, playing sport and encouraging others to be physically active. They regularly meet with Mrs Sansum to discuss things related to PE and sport.

The Year 6 children are:

Ollie, Daisy, Max, Oran, Freddie , Elsie, Ted, Penny, Carter, Ellie-Mae, Freddie

Alongside the Sports Crew, these children run mini games and activities for other children at playtime's, organise badges and encourage others to come to school sustainably.
